Opening for Positions: Research Assistants (Bachelor/Master Level) in Han-Chin Wang Lab

Work Content

You will assist in exploring the plasticity of sensory cortical neural circuits and their role in the mechanisms of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The role also includes assisting with routine laboratory administration and management.

1.Research Tools: Two-photon microscopy, functional calcium imaging in awake mice, animal behavioral training, mouse genetics, spatial gene expression, and immunostaining.

Note: This role involves survival surgeries, collection of in vivo samples, and other animal experiments that require the sacrifice of laboratory animals.

2.Responsibilities & Training: conduct experiments under instruction

(1)Technical Training: Mouse handling, image acquisition, data analysis, and mouse behavioral training.

(2)Professional Development:

- Participate in routine lab progress reports and literature reviews.

- Encouraged to participate in internal (at academia sinica) and external symposia, for poster or oral presentations.

 

Qualifications

1.Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or related fields with a passion for neuroscience.

2.Alternative Backgrounds: Graduates from non-biological fields are eligible if they have a background in computational/programming analysis, provided they have completed basic university-level biology courses.

3.Experience: Open to all experience levels.

4.Requirements: (1) Diligent, detail-oriented, responsible, and a team player. (2) Functional English proficiency.

5.Preferred Skills (Any one of the following): Mouse handling, basic molecular biology techniques, microscopic imaging, or programming skills (ImageJ, Matlab, or Python).

Preference will be given to candidates who can remain in their positions for more than one year.

Treatment

In accordance with the institute’s standard starting salary structure (NT$38,388 per month for bachelor’s degree holders and NT$44,968 per month for master’s degree holders), additional salary may be granted based on eligible work experience. This position is governed by the Labor Standards Act.
